Manchester Scores 257 Goals to Smash Current Guinness World Record

Manchester Scores 257 Goals to Smash Current Guinness World Record Netballers congregated in Manchester’s Piccadilly Gardens today to take part in an official netball Guinness World Record attempt.

The target was to score over 100 goals in the space of one hour with the help of pupils from the North West region including, St Bede’s and William Hulme school, England player Jo Harten, Northern Thunder’s Karen Grieg and members of the general  public. The record attempt was achieved in less than 30 minutes with the record breaking goal scored by Jo Harten, much to the delight of an excited crowd. Thrilled by the result, Nicola Moloney, event organiser at Manchester City Council said: “The Guinness World Record attempt today was to help raise awareness of The Co-operative World Netball Series, a three day international netball event taking place at the M.E.N Arena next month.

“We’re overwhelmed by the result and really proud of all the school pupils who took part along with the talented members of public who added to the total score.”

As the official drinks sponsor of The Co-operative World Netball Series, Slazenger S1 was on hand to provide drinks for everyone who helped to beat the Guinness World Record. The Co-operative World Netball Series will see the top six netball nations compete to a set of new and exciting rules between the 9th-11th October.
