Slazenger S1 sports drinks has made its biggest sponsorship deal to date following the announcement of a sponsorship deal with The Co-operative World Netball Series. Slazenger S1 will be the official sports drink at the event in October.

Manufacturer, Aimia Foods, secured the deal for the hypotonic drinks to be supplied to the world’s top netball players throughout the event, which takes place from Friday 9th - Sunday 11th October at the Manchester Evening News Arena.

The showcase event will see the top six netball teams in the world including England, Australia, New Zealand and Jamaica, battling it out on the court and hydrating themselves with Slazenger S1 throughout the weekend, in the hope of being crowned The Co-operative World Netball Series champions. A number of innovative rule changes have been introduced to the sport including shorter quarters, power play and shooting from outside the circle to bring a fast and vibrant element to the competition which will test the players’ fitness and technical ability to the maximum.

Slazenger S1 sports drinks will be ideal for the new and exciting, fast-paced and demanding game of netball; it’s specifically formulated to aid physical and metal performance, hydrate the body and replace lost salts and fluids up to 40 per cent faster than isotonic drinks.

Neal Haworth, category marketing manager (soft drinks) at Aimia Foods, comments: “Having Slazenger S1 sports drinks as the official sponsor for The Co-operative World Netball Series is perfect for the brand. It is important that we continue to have a presence at the big sporting events in the UK and it is fantastic that Slazenger S1 is once again the brand of choice at the UK’s top sports events.
“Netball is one of the largest participation sports for females across the UK, however it is not currently an Olympic sport. The event will be fantastic for raising the profile of the game and really highlight the talent and popularity of netball, proving it is a must see in the 2009 sporting calendar. The event is expected to draw in thousands of spectators, combined with TV and press coverage, and we are working on a full PR plan to leverage the event in October.”

The Co-operative World Netball Series deal continues to showcase Slazenger S1 as the drink to be seen with at major sporting events following a number of high profile sponsorship deals this year, including the All England Badminton Championships, England Basketball League Final Fours Championships and British National Squash Championships.

Aimia Foods has also now signed its first professional athlete to the Slazenger S1 brand. UK boxer Gary Davis has signed a sponsorship deal with the brand. The Super-Bantamweight has a number of high profile fights coming up over the coming months which will feature on Sky Sports.
